Walking.

The first day of LEAPS was an unexpected walk in the woods, during we were expected to take in the sounds and sights of nature without talking. I love the woods as much as the next Portledgian, but the time and day of our excursion seemed a bit inappropriate. It certainly was hard to concentrate on the fresh air and soft grass while being attacked by hungry mosquitos and doing a deodorant check. A chance for reflection was ruined by stinging blisters and our utter unpreparedness for such a hike. However, it was interesting to see how much we could communicate to each other (rolling eyes, backward glances) without talking. We may have gone into the woods as a group of clean individuals, but we left a united, sweaty senior class.
